THE CENTRE FOR THE FUTURE

THE WAYFINDER

WHAT IS THE WAYFINDER?

Wayfinding is a curated process that brings together four technologies to create an experience where people from different cultures can collaborate in finding viable solutions to the grand challenges of our time:

  • A digital visualisation platform featuring augmented reality allows complex patterns to be seen, monitored and analysed in real time
  • Artificial intelligence is used to scan the online environment for any additional insights and potential wildcards
  • Forensic diagnosis surfaces the most benign, least disruptive, intervention points for changing any complex system
  • New narrative methods encourage participants to expand their options in the design of new systems.

PURPOSE

Wayfinding takes ideas and insights emanating from the Academy, and other sources, using this information to examine the constraints that cause specific systems to fail. Cadres of invited participants are invited to propose schemes that will integrate and transcend any unintended consequences in the current design. Ultimately the purpose of the wayfinding experience is to find new approaches to governance, business, environmental, social, and investment models that look to nature for their inspiration and are sufficiently compelling to be used to unblock political inertia, convince the world’s media to change their stories about the future, and to create and disseminate a new awareness of how we should relate to each other and to the planet upon which we depend for life.
